Postural rehabilitation

In detail:

Postural rehabilitation involves two different methods, both for:

  • spine pathologies, paramorphisms and dysmorphisms (scoliosis, kyphosis, varus and valgus knee, etc)
  • trauma outcomes, sports injuries outcomes
  • respiratory failures

posture improvement to enhance sports performance

Souchard Method

It is a rehabilitative technique with an active movement performed by the patient, positioned by the therapist in such a position as to involve the entire body. The technique is based on eliminating automatic compensations the patient calls into action to avoid pain. We use postures-positions that allow adjustments in complete globality without compensation with an isometric muscular activity always in more elongated positions of the muscles. The therapist works through elongating muscular chains using breathing as means to relax and decontract muscle groups. The method involves eight postures to be used for every single patient.

Mézières Method

It is a postural rehabilitation method based on the principle “form rules function” and not the opposite, and it aims to “heal” patients by rebalancing the different parts through exercises which favour stretching of muscles lacking elasticity. The numerous muscles of our body, especially the posterior ones, work as a unique big and powerful muscle able to deviate the correct position of vertebrae and articular joints by a mechanism of general strain of myofascial chains. Tension and retraction of posterior muscles of trunk and inferior limbs produce exaggeration of sagittal curves and scoliosis. Segmentary work has proved to be useless in long-run outcomes
