Osteopathy

In the RICERCA SALUTE centre, OSTEOPATHIC manual medicine is practised EXCLUSIVELY by the physician or PHYSIOTHERAPIST who is also an OSTEOPATH (licence in Osteopathy DO and master in Osteopathy), always on the basis of medical diagnosis and in view of the EVIDENCE AND SCIENTIFIC PRACTICE (EBM and EBP).

Osteopathy focuses on functional disorders of the spine, of locomotor apparatus, digestive system, neurovegetative system.

Its aim

It is to meet patients’ needs by providing a personalised and integrated care pathway. Its objective is to achieve the greatest functional recovery possible and return to good health. Besides, scientific activity in this field can be hypothesized and developed. Osteopathy -more appropriately osteopathic medicine – shares principles, diagnosis and therapy with CONVENTIONAL medicine. Its added value is the attention to functional diagnosis or treatments, where possible, with manual techniques ( at body mediation). This is aimed at ascertaining whether the limits of mobility in structural elements of the body may affect patients’ condition

What does it consist of ?

The care pathway starts with the first evaluation and monitoring of results obtained by an Osteopath in cooperation with the other professionals: identifying absolute/relative contraindications, choosing different physiotherapic therapies, complementary to the treatment, that can be prescribed through Individual Rehabilitative Project, discussion with the other physiotherapists on the most suitable osteopathic techniques and modalities for the single treatment. The care pathway is carried on with the referring doctor and the evaluation of the results obtained.
